Hurry it Up
03:00
|
|||
I wish she'd hurry it up and break his heart
I wish she'd hurry it up and break his heart
A kid like that ain't got the sense to walk away in self defense
Casting daydreams in a wishing a well, waking up to a season in hell
I wish she'd hurry it up and break his heart
A boy like that ain't got the nerve to turn his back on her sweet sweet words
a trusting soul following along, been patient for too long
I wish she'd hurry it up and break his heart
I wish she'd hurry it up and tear it apart
Dark shades, hair slicked back, leather jacket wearing leader of the pack
king of the streets, hands of stone, crying like a baby cause she left him alone
I wish she'd hurry it up and break his heart
I wish she'd hurry it up and break his heart

Street Lamp
02:44
|
|||
Hey buddy won't stop staring at me
I'm just looking for a place to be
alone with my girl
away from this world that will never understand
stealing a kiss beneath an abandoned street lamp
Never fails to catch me by surprise
my heart beating fast beneath a blue black sky
as I watch her walk
over the broken glass diamonds in the rocks
to where I stand
and steal a kiss beneath an abandoned street lamp
Going through the motions of my day
I see the world in a different way
Then I did last night
in that circle of faded hello light
holding hands
sharing a kiss beneath an abandoned street lamp

Clouds
02:54
|
|||
No one believed me they thought I was lying
when I told your story tonight
I kept it simple I stuck to the facts
they said there ain't nobody like that
There's a beauty in your madness
a poetry in your sadness
and there's a cloud hanging low tonight
You come to bridges you left behind
you won't make it home lest you walk through fire
You never one to be denied
you say the first word that crossed your mind
There's a beauty in your madness
a poetry in your sadness
and there's a cloud hanging low tonight
You're out there where everyone pushed you away
they'd rather talk about you than to you any day
No one believed me they thought I was lying
when I told your story tonight
I kept it simple I stuck to the facts
they said there ain't nobody like that
There's a beauty in your madness
a poetry in your sadness
and there's a cloud hanging low tonight

Desert Sun
05:39
|
|||
They were dancing at the Desert Sun
in that room where so many bad ideas had begun
and they're talking out in the parking lot
not listening but believing maybe it's worth a shot
cause loneliness will turn you blind
She's waiting by the telephone
he said he'd call at four so she don't really feel alone
until she's watching the day turn to night
still hoping he'll show up even drunk and ready to fight
cause loneliness will turn you blind
it's hard to ignore mistakes were made
breaking down in the night when you were fine all through the day
trying to find your way through a world unkind
where loneliness will turn you blind
Well she's dancing at the Desert Sun
another Friday full of promise she's gonna find the one
no matter how many times before
her heart skips a beat when a stranger walks through the door
loneliness will turn you blind

Little Piece of You
02:33
|
|||
So far apart but I picture you
doing all the things you gotta do
you're doing your thing that you do so well
out in the crowd casting your spell
everyone wants a little piece of you
yeah it's true
everyone wants a piece of you
So far apart but I still see
your brown eyes staring at me
you're staring at me, listening close
cause I got something to say that you wanna know
everyone wants a little piece of you
yeah it's true
everyone wants a piece of you
I'll assume that everything's fine
you're gonna call if you get the time
or maybe when you get lonesome
but that's an unlikely scene
you reaching out to me
cause you don't get that lonesome
So far apart but I picture you
doing all the things that you gotta do
doing your thing out in the crowd
I can be jealous or I can be proud
cause everyone wants a little piece of you
yeah it's true
everyone wants a little piece of you
yes I do
everyone wants a piece of you

So Close
04:28
|
|||
Sitting on the edge of the bed
Wanting to speak but I bite my tongue instead
Bend down and kiss your sleeping head
Choking on the words that are never said
Night falls and I feel so alone
I want to pull on my boots and walk all the way to San Antone
but something inside me says don't quit
we're so close lover but we ain't there yet
We fell in love on a hot summer afternoon
when the crack in the shade let the sunlight fill the room
You saw me and I saw every inch of you
those were the best times I ever knew
but night falls and I get so alone
I want to duck out the back door and walk all the way to San Antone
but something inside me says don't quit
we're so close lover but we ain't there yet

Reservation Radio
03:26
|
|||
A calm came over my father's face
silhouetted in the dash board light
my mother slept on the back seat
while my sister stared out in the night
I couldn't wait to ask her how
she found the nerve to go
while Merle Haggard sang of prison on the
reservation radio
We lived up on a mountain road
ten miles from the nearest town
my sister dreamed of grander things
than what my folks had found
and the hurt they felt when she ran
turned to joy as we headed home
while Merle Haggard sang of prison
on the reservation radio
when the snow would fall the tourists crawled
all over the mountain side
she made friends with some city kid and
disappeared in to the night
After tow long weeks on an LA street
she began to change her mind
tears filled my father's eyes when
he heard her voice on the line
and he kept his promise to ask no questions if
she'd let us bring her home
while Merle Haggard sang of prison
on the reservation radio

Revolutionary Ways
03:11
|
|||
Folks say I'm a rebel, a revolutionary guy
but I seem to make it on my own
I never been in trouble and I sure got a lot of friends
but they just can't make me, no that just can't make me
give up my revolutionary ways
Revolutionary in my walking
revolutionary in my talking
revolutionary in my loving
revolutionary in my living
oh yeah
If I lived my life all over some other part I'd play
but my mind goes back to days of 69
when revolution was a by word that everybody'd say
but you just can't make me, no you just can't make me
give up my revolutionary ways
Revolutionary in my walking
revolutionary in my talking
revolutionary in my loving
revolutionary in my living
Revolutionary!
